Ronson on hunt for marketing md

Cigarette lighter and papers maker Ronson International is searching for a managing director to head its marketing functions following a management overhaul of the troubled company.

The company’s management has been in flux over the past 12 months since Ronson was delisted from the Stock Exchange.

Managing director Neil Wright has run the company for the past six months while a new management structure was being created, but he has now left the company. Wright was handling sales and marketing functions at Ronson.

The move follows the appointment of general manager Ronnie Clucas, who joined the company last month. Clucas says that he expects an appointment in the next few weeks.

He adds the appointment will complete the management of the company, with a sales and marketing team in the process of being put together.

The company’s marketing functions have been on hold since former marketing head Spencer Dawson left last year.

Ronson sells a range of cigarette accessories, although it is most famous for its disposable lighter business. The company diversified into cigarette papers and hand-rolling products in 2002 (MW October 24, 2002).
