Are you called John? Or Jonathan? Or even Jono or Johnny? No, the Diary isn’t making wild guesses at the names of its readers, it is trying to alert the Johns among us to the chance to be given free First Aid training. St John Ambulance is making the offer to its namesakes or anyone who brings a mate called John. The charity is offering training at 11am, Saturday June 19 (St John’s Day), at St John’s Gate in Clerkenwell to celebrate 500 years of St John Ambulance’s. The event is being sponsored by… yes, you’ve guessed it, John Smith’s Extra Smooth. The Diary is unsure of what to make of this positive discrimination – or Johnism – but hopes that the idea catches on.
