Moss Bros, the men’s retailer, has appointed Red Media to handle its &£1m media planning and buying. It is not known if incumbent agency, Frontline Media, was asked to repitch.

The agency will work across the company’s portfolio of brands, which includes Cecil Gee, Hugo Boss, Moss Bros Hire and The Suit Company. Moss Bros head of marketing Andrew Barclay says that he was looking for an agency with a lot of fashion experience.

The appointment is part of a review of the retailer’s marketing agencies, which is being overseen by Barclay. The aim is to introduce consistency across its PR and marketing. Moss Bros has also recently appointed Gary Kingsnorth, the fashion director for lads magazine, FHM, as a brand consultant and stylist for Cecil Gee.

Moss Bros is planning to reposition and raise the profile of the brands in its portfolio. It has already begun work relaunching Moss Bros Hire with the publication of a style magazine, in association with IPC, in January. It is understood that Cecil Gee, which has 27 stores nationwide, is next in line for a revamp.

Red Media, which specialises in premium brands, has a number of fashion clients including Diesel, Monsoon, Mulberry and Paul Smith.
