Burger King calls £10m ad review

Burger King has called a review of its £10m ad business. It is understood that the fast-food chain is in talks with a number of agencies, including incumbent Delaney Lund Knox Warren (DLKW) and WCRS.

The move comes just months after Burger King appointed Andrew Brent as chief marketing officer (MW April 22) and promoted head of marketing Paul Reynish to marketing director. Reynish’s role was expanded to include more influence over the chain’s marketing strategy and implementation in the UK (MW October 16, 2003).

The UK’s number two fast-food chain has suffered falling sales over recent years and has been forced to look at healthier products such as salads and chicken sandwiches, as has rival McDonald’s.

DLKW was appointed to handle the business two years ago after Lowe was fired from the account by former marketing director Philip Almond (MW July 25, 2002).
