Direct-sell holiday company Travelsphere has appointed Edge Ideas to handle its £2.2m advertising business.
This is the first time Travelsphere has used an agency, as ads have previously been created in house. Edge Ideas will also work on brand development and brochure design. Total Media handles media planning and buying.
The appointment was made by Travelsphere head of marketing Steve Goodenough. The company wants to raise its profile against competitors such as coach tour operator Wallace Arnold. Edge Ideas has developed the branding strapline “One name stands out, Travelsphere”.
Travelsphere was founded in 1977 by directors Mike Edwards and Richard McKay and is a private company based in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. It sells escorted tours and targets the older holidaymaker with tours in China, Nepal, America and Australia.
Recent product launches include accompanied tours for single people and cycling and walking tours for 30- and 40-year-olds.
The company reported profits before tax up 12 per cent to £10.7m in 2003 on a turnover of £92m.
Edge Ideas, set up by Ron Leagas as Edge Communications in 1998, recently won the £3m advertising account for cruise line Swan Hellenic (MW June 17).
