Distiller loses director of marketing

Scottish whisky company Whyte & Mackay marketing director Glen Gribbon has left the company. It is not known whether he has a job to go to, but the company is claiming it will continue to work with Gribbon on a consultancy basis.

Scottish whisky company Whyte & Mackay marketing director Glen Gribbon has left the company. It is not known whether he has a job to go to, but the company is claiming it will continue to work with Gribbon on a consultancy basis.

His departure comes just days after the company’s advertising agency, The Union, resigned its creative account (Marketing Week June 11). The bulk of its work was on the Vladivar brand.

Gribbon was appointed as the whisky distiller’s marketing chief three years ago when the company, formerly called Kyndal International, was set up following a £200m management buyout from Jim Beam Brands’ European operation (MW October 25, 2001).

He was previously JJB’s international marketing manager for white spirits, liqueurs and new product development. At the time the company’s advertising business was held by Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R.

Whyte & Mackay recently stepped up its promotion of Vladivar vodka, including a three-season shirt sponsorship deal with Leeds United Football Club.
