The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) is looking for a marketing director to work across both the charity and commercial businesses of the organisation, as part of its restructure.
The move follows the recent appointment of Paul Gostick as the international chairman (MW May 20), who is in the process of reviewing the status of the CIM as a charity.
The CIM is also looking to appoint a new managing director of CIM Holdings, to include the commercial side of the business, such as driving membership.
For the interim period, the membership side of the business will be handled by the CIM’s chairman of the professional body board John Greenhough, who has taken on the new role of head of business development. He will step down from all governance positions to take on this role.
The role will be made redundant in December this year, when the CIM will appoint a permanent marketing and insights director.
Also for the interim period, the institute’s financial director, John Coke, will become the chief executive. He will hold the post until the CIM’s annual general meeting in December, at which time a permanent chief executive will be appointed. This role will carry responsibility for all parts of the CIM, to include charity, education and membership and CIM Holdings.
Former chief executive Peter Fisk left the CIM after only 13 months when it came to light that the organisation could be in possible breach of its charitable covenant as it had not separated its commercial and charitable activities (MW March 18).
