It’s that time…

It’s that time of the year again.

It’s that time of the year again… sex, drugs, rock ‘n’ roll, rain-soaked revellers in mud-pits, celebrity liggers everywhere. But enough about the Diary’s walk through Soho to get to work in the morning. Here’s a story about Glastonbury. For alcoholic refreshment, music lovers at such festivals usually have to pay extortionate amounts for lukewarm, flat beer or gut-rot cider, so those clever folk at Budweiser decided to bring a bit of civilisation to the most anarchic of surroundings. That’s right, the Glastonbury Festival has got a local pub. The Crown had all the charm and sophistication of your average local, but also boasted performances by the likes of New Order’s Peter Hook and former Stone Roses bassist Mani. Budweiser claims that more than 5,000 revellers found their way to the pub, but refused to comment on rumours that 4,990 of these visits were during Paul McCartney’s main stage finale on the Saturday night.
