BSkyB’s betting and gaming business SkyBet has poached Ladbrokes marketer Simon Miller to be its marketing director.
Miller, who has held the position of head of international marketing for online gaming at Ladbrokes since January 2002, will join SkyBet later this month to oversee the largest push behind the gaming brand to date.
Earlier this year, SkyBet appointed Mother to create an advertising campaign to promote its interactive television operation. Phillipson Ward Longworth Camponi continues to handle the advertising for SkyBet’s online business. Media duties are handled by DS Emotion.
Miller will report to SkyBet managing director Nick Rust, who oversaw the review of its ad business. Prior to Ladbrokes, Miller held various account director roles at J Walter Thompson and Publicis.
Miller will replace David McIntosh, who has looked after marketing on an interim basis since the beginning of the year. McIntosh will remain at the company until Miller has joined to hand over responsibilities. A Sky spokesman says that McIntosh’s position at SkyBet is under review and no decision has been taken about his future role at the company.
SkyBet has launched a major marketing campaign this summer around a number of key sponsorships, including the Channel 4 test cricket coverage as well as live sporting events on Sky Sports such as football’s Copa America, the Elite League Speedway, the PDC World Darts Classic and other sports-related programming on Sky One.
