LG Electronics names UK marketing director

LG Electronics has appointed Connie Park as UK marketing director, following the departure of general marketing manager Nigel Couzens, who left last month (MW July 15).

Park, who has already taken over the role, has moved from LG Ad – a Korean advertising agency part-owned by WPP Group – where she was global account manager for LG Electronics.

She is expected to take over all of Couzens’ responsibilities, which included overseeing the company’s four divisions: home appliances, home electronics, IT and air- conditioning. He also handled the company’s corporate marketing, such as sports sponsorships.

The company is reviewing its marketing services including its advertising and media agency arrangements. It is understood that the review has been delayed by the change in marketing director and that incumbent media agency John Ayling Associates has been invited to repitch – although it is not clear if LG’s incumbent creative agency, Mustoes, is still involved. LG spent &£1.3m on advertising last year.

The review was launched by Couzens, before his decision to leave the company to pursue “other interests” having spent just over a year in his role. He is taking time off, but intends to seek a new role in the consumer electronics market.
