Clear Channel director Lloyd Keisner launches table-top advertising company

A former senior executive from outdoor advertising company Clear Channel has set up a new out-of-home media company called Tabletalkmedia, which will sell advertising on tables in restaurants and cafés.

Lloyd Keisner, who was managing director of Clear Channel subsidiary Taxi Media, has launched the company. Keisner has signed up coffee chain Coffee Republic, which has 46 shops in the UK, to allow advertising on its tables.

In the past, advertising in food environments has not been encouraged because advertising stuck on to tables tend to work itself loose, and is generally considered unhygienic. Tabletalk has patented a transparent canvas, which encapsulates the whole table, and can only be removed mechanically.

Tabletalk has also done a deal with catering group Compass to put its table advertising in universities and hospitals in the UK.

Keisner says: “We can target students, who make up a highly desirable market. Also, doctors, nurses and other general medical staff are traditionally a hard market to target as they work long and unsociable hours.” He adds that the average time spent in a café is about 15 minutes.

Tabletalk also has the contract to put advertising on tables in shopping centre food-courts across the UK.
