Capital Radio Group hands former BBC marketer development task

Capital Radio Group has appointed former BBC Worldwide marketer Richard Mintz as marketing director for its developing brands division. He will be responsible for Xfm, Choice FM and Capital Gold.

Mintz, who takes up his post on October 4, will be responsible for consolidating the marketing departments of the three brands. He will focus particularly on developing urban music brand Choice FM and revitalising the Capital Gold network. He will report to developing brands managing director Graham Bryce.

As part of Capital’s push to develop Choice, it has extended the role of Xfm head of marketing Charlotte Soussan to include the urban music brand. Soussan will report to Mintz. Bryce says Soussan’s experience in developing the Xfm brand will be valuable in the development of Choice.

Bryce says he does not plan to review the advertising for any of the brands immediately. Xfm works with Rocket on a project basis, but neither Choice nor Capital Gold retains an agency.

Bryce was promoted from managing director of Xfm to head of the developing brands division in April, as part of a wider restructure of the company, which also saw Capital Gold managing director Lynn Long promoted to head of the FM network (MW April 8).
