BK extends core range
Burger King is launching two permanent menu additions, the TenderCrisp Chicken Sandwich and the Angus Steakburger, to boost its core product offering. The move comes despite the current trend towards healthier options.
The products are being rolled out across the UK following their success in the US market. The two items, along with a range of fire-grilled meat salads, are credited with increasing sales in the US by 11.8 per cent in those restaurants that have been open longer than a year. The launches will be supported by a television ad that continues the “You’re the boss” campaign created by Delaney Lund Knox Warren.
The TenderCrisp Chicken Sandwich, which contains more than 800 calories and 47 grams of fat, is the first product to be launched. It will be introduced next month. The patty in the sandwich is made completely of breast meat rather than just all-white meat, as in previous chicken sandwiches. In the US, there is already a spicy variant.
The Angus Steakburger, which is being launched in December, has a patty that contains 100 per cent Angus beef and steak sauce. In the US, it is available in a low-carbohydrate version without the bun and with a low-carbohydrate steak sauce.
