Warner Bros Pictures appoints UK managing director

Warner Bros Pictures International has appointed Peter Taylor as managing director for UK and Ireland.

Taylor joins from Columbia Pictures where he was director of distribution. He replaces Nigel Sharrocks, a former managing director at Grey Advertising, who left Warner Bros to join Aegis as chief executive for UK and Ireland in May.

Taylor will be responsible for the distribution and marketing of Warner Bros films. He will join Warner Bros in January, in time to lead the campaign for the next Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Taylor will report to Warner Bros Entertainment UK executive vice-president and managing director Joshua Berger, to Warner Bros Pictures International senior vice-president of European marketing Con Gornell, and to European Theatrical Distribution senior vice-president Monique Esclavissat.

Taylor will supervise a team that includes UK director of marketing Ashley Wirashina and director of publicity Jane Trotman.

Warner Bros Pictures UK’s media planning and buying account is handled by PHD. The company spent 4.7m on advertising the last Harry Potter film – Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Nielsen Media Research).

Other Warner titles scheduled for 2005 include Batman Begins and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
