C4 cleaning show spawns merchandise

Channel 4 television show How Clean Is Your House? is to spin off a range of household products.

The licensing division of Fremantle Media, the production company behind the cleaning makeover show, has struck a series of agreements with licensees in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, including one with Consuma to produce kitchen roll and wet wipes branded with the name of the programme.

Deals have also been signed with CKS to produce novelty gloves, and with Susan Prescott Games to produce board games and jigsaw puzzles. The products will be available by spring, through a range of multiples and independent outlets.

Slow Dazzle, already signed up by Fremantle Media Licensing Worldwide to produce calendars, will develop merchandise in further categories including homeware, clothing and compilation CDs.

Fremantle Media Licensing Worldwide vice-president for UK licensing Dom Wheeler says: “We look forward to bringing even more fashionable, innovative products to the market very soon.”

Last year, Penguin Books released a hardback book with practical advice to accompany the show, which features Kim Woodburn and Aggie Mackenzie. The book has sold more than 500,000 copies in the UK.

Versions of How Clean Is Your House? have aired in Germany, the Netherlands and the US, with others scheduled for transmission in Russia, Denmark and France.
