Triangle chief steps down after 30 years

Kevin Twittey, sales promotion guru and founder of marketing company Triangle Group, is to step down from the agency he founded nearly 30 years ago.

Twittey, who is Triangle’s chairman, formed the company in 1975. The agency now has 85 staff and a turnover of £20m. He is leaving the agency ahead of its relocation to West Kensington, where it will be aligned under the Leo Burnett umbrella. Managing partners Nick Hoadley and Diana Cawley will be the new management team.

Twittey is taking a sabbatical until the second half of next year before deciding what to do next. He says it was agreed that Hoadley and Cawley should oversee the move to the new premises without his day-to-day involvement.

Hoadley has denied suggestions the move will lead to a merger of Triangle with sister Publicis agency ARC. He says it will allow Triangle access to the group’s resources, such as its legal team and IT services. Publicis bought Triangle in 2001.

Some support staff will lose their jobs in the relocation, although the client services teams will remain unaffected. Triangle’s clients include Lloyds TSB and Unilever.

Triangle won the below-the-line account for KFC last month, in a review of the fast-food chain’s store communications and promotion activity (MW October 28).

It is also in the running for Gala Leisure’s £7m direct marketing account (MW October 21).
