Gambling.com seeks agency for UK launch

Gambling portal and search engine Gambling.com is searching for its first advertising and media agency, to support its UK launch campaign.

Gambling.com is already popular in the US and is about to launch a UK-specific service. The website provides a search engine for other gambling websites, as well as the company’s own gambling services.

The company plans a brand awareness campaign in the UK. The campaign is expected to focus on print and outdoor advertising. Gambling companies cannot use television advertising in the UK, although restrictions are likely to be eased under the controversial Gambling Bill, which is passing through Parliament.

Gambling.com managing director Tim Rosenberg says the company hopes its distinctive name will make it the first port of call for prospective punters in the UK. He says the name alone has helped the site to become a success in the US without any advertising.

Gambling.com relaunched itself earlier this year as a gambling-only search engine, after leading competitors such as Overture and Google decided to ban online gambling advertising from their sites in the US (MW August 19).
