Celador plans magazine for C4’s You Are What You Eat

Celador International has struck a licensing deal to turn its Channel 4 television show You Are What You Eat into a monthly magazine.

The magazine will be published by Brooklands Group. The first issue will be available from the end of next January to accompany the new series. It is expected to have a cover price of &£2.60 and will focus on healthy eating, giving tips on food combining, nutrition, recipes and exercise. Brooklands already publishes a monthly magazine based on a Channel 4 programme: A Place In the Sun.

The healthy eating series has so far spawned a book, published by Penguin, on healthy eating. It sold more than 1.3 million copies and was in the UK bestseller chart for ten weeks.

Celador International has agreed a second deal with Penguin for it to publish a You Are What You Eat Cookbook, containing recipes written by the programme’s nutritionist Dr Gillian McKeith.

Another deal has been hatched with Lace International to produce a You Are What You Eat DVD and VHS video, due to be released in the UK on December 27. Created by Celador Productions, the video and DVD is fronted by Dr McKeith and includes nutritional information and a 14-day recipe planner.

Celador International head of licensing and marketing Michael Seres says: “The success of the TV series and book show the incredible impact of the You Are What You Eat lifestyle plan on consumers.”
