Some people spend too much time thinking about work. Take Dead Ringers impressionist John Culshaw, who was guest speaker at the recent Marketing Society dinner at The Grosvenor hotel. Needing to freshen up before the event, Culshaw borrowed one of the bedrooms booked by the society, leaving his belongings in a bag while he went downstairs for the main event.
Obviously, given the stresses of showbusiness, our brave performer needed to wind down afterwards at the hotel bar. By the time he’d finished and decided that perhaps it was time to retrieve his personal effects, the room was occupied by a brace of sleeping women, one of whom bravely went to investigate the hammering on the door, dressed in what have been described to the Diary as “Bridget Jones pyjamas”.
Culshaw’s response to this apparition? An impressive, off-the-cuff Hugh Grant stammer. Sadly, it didn’t work as well for John as it does for Hugh, and he left with his chattels intact.
