A welcome to the drug-addled world of adland

The Diary is writing this particular story from underneath the desk with a large Bacardi, as gunfire shatters the peace of London W1. The reason is not some drug feud, or the beginning of a civil war, but the opening of an advertising school. To celebrate the inauguration of Miami Ad School London, Saatchi & Saatchi held a Scarface-themed party.

How this differs from a normal adland party it’s hard to say, – bad suits, piles of cocaine and gratuitous use of the “f”-word are not exactly unusual in the industry, although most agency types are several degrees uglier than Al Pacino.

The invitation carried instructions on how to avoid the paparazzi and directions to the bash. But it didn’t mention whether you could bring your leetle friend…
