Those of you who aren’t already planning Hallowe’en campaigns might have noticed that Monday was Valentine’s Day. Staff at Saatchi & Saatchi certainly did: to tie in with the agency’s “Lovemarks” philosophy, three couples were invited to re-dedicate their marriages in the ghetto (Saatchis’ lobby).

In a ceremony presided over by “Elvis Presley” and observed by a bemused street cleaner and a bevy of agency types, the nuptial knots were tightened anew and wooden hearts were warmed.

But the spectacle of managing director John Wright and chairman Lee Daley dancing to an ersatz version of Can’t Help Falling in Love was topped, in the Diary’s eyes, by the sight of Elvis Presley assuring an all shook up small boy who was crying in the chapel that no, he wasn’t Gary Glitter.
