Masterfoods UK picks pet care MD

Masterfoods UK pet care marketing director Richard Kellam has become managing director of the division. The title change comes just a year after Kellam joined the division from Masterfoods in Canada (MW April 29, 2004).

There have been a number of changes at Masterfoods in recent weeks including snack food marketing director David Teasdale becoming managing director (MW last week). Both Teasdale and Kellam sit on the Masterfoods UK board.

Whiskas and Pedigree marketing manager David Wilson has become marketing director and will work alongside Kellam and trading director Paul Lees. In the snack food division, marketing manager David Bell has become marketing director.

It is understood that the changes are aimed at increasing the focus on snack food and pet care, which are the company’s key categories, but it also aims to create closer links between the division’s sales and marketing departments. The company has made a number of changes across Europe in recent months to increase its focus on categories rather than regions.

The changes will not affect Masterfood’s food portfolio, which is not as big as the snack food and pet care divisions. Rob Hughes, the division’s marketing director, is not affected by the changes.
