Capital Radio and GWR announce staff moves

Details of Capital FM Network, the new company to be created as a result of the Capital Radio Group and GWR Group merger in May, have emerged, with Capital Group sales director John McGeough retaining his role and GWR operations director Steve Orchard will be group operations director for the merged company.

McGeough will be responsible for driving revenue across all of the group’s brands through the group salesforce and spot advertising. He will report to Duncan George, the managing director of GWR sales house Opus who has already been confirmed as managing director for national sales for the merged group. The regional sales operation will also continue to be handled by Capital managing director for regional sales Jo Bucci, who will retain her role in the new company.

Under the enlarged group, Capital FM Network will be overseen by GWR group operations director Steve Orchard and will be run alongside The Mix Network. It has not been confirmed if the two networks will merge. It is also unclear what the changes will mean for Capital FM Network managing director Lyn Long, who is understood to be in consultation with Capital.

GWR group marketing director Jim Cruikshank will become marketing director for the network, with GWR group programme director Dirk Anthony becoming content director of Capital FM Network. Capital FM regional network programme director John O’Hara has decided to leave the company as a result of the changes, but will stay until the merger has been completed.

It is understood that the majority of the senior executive roles have been decided, although they are still subject to shareholder approval and the results of the consultation process.
