The Bank poised to pick up Siberia Airlines’ rebranding

Siberia Airlines is tipped to appoint advertising agency The Bank to handle its European advertising campaign designed to support the airline’s rebranding.

The Russian airline is changing its name to S7 and is introducing a new green and red livery and visual identity developed by branding agency Landor Associates. The new identity is expected to be in full use by August.

Siberia Airlines, which does not fly from the UK at present, operates between Russia and Germany, but it is keen to expand in Western Europe.

The new S7 branding does away with the Cyrillic letters of the airline’s traditional “Sibir” name and means that a website for booking tickets can be more easily promoted.

Siberia Airlines was originally a regional airline created from the former Aeroflot. Through various acquisitions, it has become the second-largest airline in Russia.

The Bank, which appointed Will Harris as chief executive last year, won the account for Italian beer brand Peroni last November (MW November 25, 2004).

Landor Associates has also worked on a rebrand of Armavia, the national airline of Armenia. Siberia Airlines owns 75 per cent of Armavia.
