GMG names chief radio marketer

Guardian Media Group (GMG) Radio has promoted Real Radio network marketing manager Helen Dickinson to chief marketer for its entire portfolio. She will be responsible for Smooth FM and soon-to-be relaunched London station Jazz FM.

GMG Radio’s marketing has been overseen by chief executive John Myers since the departure of marketing director Nicola Thompson last autumn (MW October 21, 2004). Dickinson, who takes over the role with immediate effect, will report to GMG group operations director Shaun Bowron.

She will relaunch Jazz FM as Smooth FM this June following the successful rebranding of the North-west station as Smooth FM, early last year. The group has already appointed Clear Marketing, with which Dickinson has worked on the Real network, to handle the launch campaign (MW March 3). GMG also works with Brilliant Media and Thomas Media Consultancy.

Dickinson joined GMG Radio in 2001 to work on the launch of Real Radio. She worked with Myers on the launch of Century Radio while she was an account director at Cheetham Bell JWT.
