Lloyds TSB to trial plasma screen information points

Lloyds TSB, the UK’s fourth-largest high street bank, is test-marketing plasma screen information points for customers.

The technology allows branch customers to access information on products and services on touch-screen points in branches as an alternative to speaking to advisers or reading conventional merchandising material.

The pilot is taking place in five of the bank’s branches, two in Tonbridge, and one each in Bromley, Southall and central London’s Finsbury Square, using technology fitted by financial retail specialist John Ryan International. On-screen information also includes news and weather relevant to the branch area, promotions and a message from the branch manager.

A spokeswoman for the bank says the pilot scheme is at an early stage. She adds that it will review at the end of May to decide whether to roll the plasma screens out to other branches or to end the project.

The financial company will be holding a series of roadshows in May to showcase its products and will be speaking to a number of British financial institutions about network solutions.
