McD’s seeks UK marketer

McDonald’s is seeking a new head of marketing following the promotion of Laurie Morgan to vice-president of marketing for the UK earlier this year.

The fast-food chain promoted Morgan after a three-month search for someone to replace John Hawkes, who retired at the start of the year. Morgan joined the chain last July.

The head of marketing will work alongside Morgan on the continuing revamp of the burger chain’s menu and image. In the past year, it has introduced the Salads Plus range, brought in new breakfast items and extended the Happy Meal menu.

The changes have been supported by significant advertising under the “I’m Lovin’ it” strapline, and McDonald’s is promoting balanced lifestyles under the “It’s what I eat and what I do” banner (MW March 10).

Last month, the company revealed a 42 per cent rise in worldwide profits for the first quarter of 2005. It also reported stronger revenue growth in Europe.
