New Campaigns – Virgin Megastores

Virgin Megastores is returning to brand advertising for the first time in two years, with cinema ads positioning the retailer as the enemy of bland entertainment.

The cinema ad, which breaks nationally on Friday, juxtaposes various genres of music with executions representing pop, rock, punk, hip-hop and baggy. It features a series of “pixel” characters and includes tracks from artists such as Soft Cell, the Jackson 5, the Manic Street Preachers and Herbie Hancock.

The 40-second ad was created by Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R.
