Coke unveils ad drive as lemon variant hits shelves

A multi-million pound Coca-Cola campaign launched today (Wednesday) through television and outdoor advertising and PR will coincide with the launch of a new flavour: Coca-Cola with Lemon.

“Bring Me Sunshine” features country music legend Willie Nelson singing the song of the same name made famous by Morecambe and Wise in the Seventies.

The creative campaign is the second to be devised by Mother after last year’s “I Wish” television ad. The latest ad features an actor handing out bottles of Coke to random people in the street.

The ad captures the reactions of real people, initially suspicious of his motives but eventually recognising a gesture of goodwill, which puts a smile on their faces.

Uk consumers will be the first in the world to taste the new Coca-Cola with Lemon variant, available from mid-June as a limited edition. The product will be on the shelf in 330ml cans and 500ml bottles, as well as in a two-litre bottle and in a 300ml six-pack in supermarkets. McCann Erickson is handling the campaign’s media buying.
