Compass Group appoints Upper Crust chief

Compass Group has named Chris Burton as brand director for its Upper Crust fast-food outlets. He will be in charge of managing and developing the Upper Crust brand internationally.

Burton, who has already started in the role, will report to Compass Group president, brands and marketing Marta Del Rio Villanueva. He has a brief to expand the Upper Crust outside the 26 countries in which it is already available.

There are 1,500 outlets under the Compass brand name. They are located in airports, UK rail stations and within the Compass-owned Moto service station chain, and also in large companies and sports stadia where Compass provides contract catering services.

Andrew Emmerson, the previous Upper Crust brand director, has been appointed as operations director for Millie’s Cookies, also a Compass Group-owned brand.

Compass is the world’s biggest food service company, with operations in 93 countries and brands including Harry Ramsden, Moto and Upper Crust. It also holds franchises for Burger King and Italian food outlet Sbarro.
