Ernest & Julio Gallo, the Californian wine company, has launching its first dedicated UK consumer brand website, www.turning-leaf.co.uk, to back its Turning Leaf premium wine range. The site went live at the end of June with a competition to win cases of Turning Leaf wines and wine glasses.
The site, created by brand communications agency Davison Williams, follows on from a microsite developed for the brand earlier this year. The microsite helped build a sizeable consumer database and also allowed Ernest & Julio Gallo to collect valuable insights into consumer perceptions of the brand in the UK, as well as more general information about consumer wine buying and drinking behaviour.
The website will feature product information, including tasting notes, advice on matching wine with food and stockists; information about the vineyards, winemaking and California in general; links to sampling events, including English Heritage’s Music on a Summer Evening concerts; and a members- only area including seasonal recipes and competitions.
Ernest & Julio Gallo is still family owned after more than 70 years. It recently moved into Australian wine in the UK, putting &£1.5m behind the launch of a sub-brand, JJ McWilliam’s, the result of a marketing deal between the US company and Australian family-owned wine company McWilliam’s.
