Little Britain unveils character dolls range

Little Britain launches its range of plush dolls next month featuring characters Daffyd, Vicky Pollard, and Lou and Andy.

The successful BBC comedy series is set to launch into the toys market, targeting “young adults”, in August.

The launch of the official merchandise comes after the writers and stars of the show, Matt Lucas and David Walliams, signed a five-year deal with Granada Ventures appointing it the world licensing agent for the Little Britain brand. Character Options is the licensee for the gift and toy products.

The comedians signed the deal with Granada after a number of unofficial Little Britain-branded products hit the market.

The range, made up of figures, gifts and other merchandise, marks the biggest launch for Character Options this year. The dolls will be made in close consultation with Lucas and Walliams.

The Little Britain range is expected to generate up to £6m in sales by Christmas. Other merchandise will include pencil cases, clothing and giftware bearing the images and slogans of programme characters.

Meanwhile, Character Options is preparing for the launch of its Doctor Who merchandise range. Earlier this year, BBC Worldwide appointed Character Options as the master toy licensee for the latest series.

The action figures and related merchandise are expected to be on the shelves in September.
