Codemasters, the video-games developer and publisher, is launching a new division to expand the company’s presence in the mobile phone gaming market.

Codemasters Mobile will co-ordinate the development and publishing of the company’s games for mobile devices.

Codemasters business development manager Matt Davies has been appointed as director of the division and Codemasters marketing manager, Sarah Brockhurst, will handle all of its marketing.

Codemasters Mobile will exploit the company’s portfolio of existing game brands such as Sensible Soccer, Cannon Fodder and Psycho Pinball. The first titles to be published under the Codemasters Mobile brand will be rolled out this autumn.

Davies says/ “We will develop the division organically from an initial roster of six titles and build additional development resources and mobile properties. This will leverage Codemasters’ key gaming brands, [create] new IPs and introduce original titles created exclusively for mobile gaming.”

The new division is part of an ongoing development of the company’s interests. Earlier this month, it launched a dedicated online gaming division and a digital download service. It also recently promoted group brand manager Nicky Hewitt to marketing director (MW July 7).
