Blue Square unveils cash internet quiz

Online bookmaker Blue Square has launched what it claims is the world’s first “person-to-person” cash quiz that allows players to compete with each other for money.

The internet game, called Quiz Wizz, pits contestants against each other to win a prize pot.

Blue Square says the concept not only opens up a new market in online gaming, but also gets around legal restrictions on gambling in some countries, such as the US.

As the game is fully skill-based and the result depends solely on the ability of the contestant, the bookmaker says that it does not contravene the law in countries where online gambling is technically illegal.

Many online bookmakers, including Blue Square, do not accept American credit cards for this reason, but the company says that US citizens would be allowed to take part in the new quiz game.

The company has been developing quizwizz.com for several months, and launched a version of the game on its website earlier this week. Blue Square says it plans to offer the software to other companies so they can run similar competitions using their own branded version of the game.

The game will allow players to pay an entry fee and answer a series of questions, with the answers being randomly matched up to another player. The winner can either collect their winnings or buy into a higher-stakes quiz.
