CarLand, the used-car supermarket, is reviewing its &£4m advertising account held by McCann Erickson Birmingham.
The review is being managed by the AAR, but it is not known whether the incumbent is involved. It is thought the company is in the early stages of holding meetings with agencies.
It is understood that the review has been called to further drive sales and that the new burst of advertising will include radio and press.
CarLand has six sites around the country, three of which are in London. In 2000, the company appointed Yellow M to handle its &£5m rebrand from Concept Automotive Services to CarLand.
It moved its advertising into Martin Tait Redheads of Newcastle in 2002 and subsequently into McCann Erickson.
CarLand is one of the UK’s largest used-car supermarkets. It was established in 1991 and has 3,000 cars in stock nationwide.
One of CarLand’s main rivals in the used-car supermarket sector is Lex Auto Sales. In 2000, Lex, which has more sites but is a similar-sized business to CarLand, poached CarLand marketing director Alistair Welham to head its marketing team.
