No house in order at MacKenzie’s Talk Radio

In your analysis, you discuss Kelvin MacKenzie’s prospects of putting Highbury House in order (MW last week). Citing TalkSport, you conclude that “he has proved he is capable of turning around ailing businesses”.

I question this conclusion. Despite the change in format and the high-profile activity, there has been no material change to Talk Radio/TalkSport audiences in the period of his ownership.

The increase in value of the Wireless Group may relate to other stations in the group or to projections of better things to come but surely not to the performance of its flagship station during MacKenzie’s tenure.
