Can a league of Yorkshiremen be tempted by t’ Tetley’s challenge?
The Diary thinks it’s fair to say that Yorkshire folk aren’t known for being the most enthusiastic of people.
While non-Yorkshiremen and women everywhere look on in bemusement as the likes of Geoff Boycott and Sir Bernard Ingham offer no-nonsense, dour advice on anything and everything, the people of Yorkshire take it for granted that mild disinterest is a way of life.
It is for this reason that the Diary is shocked that Tetley’s, that most Yorkshire of brands, is launching a competition limited to people living within the Ridings region.
Tetley’s is relaunching its bitter drinks, and is celebrating the relaunch with a “Golden Pint” competition, where the finder of the pint will win &£10,000.
Tetley’s celebrated the launch of the competition by inviting some of the local protagonists of a northern pastime called “rugby league” to a photo shoot.
For every pint bought a drinker will receive a clue as to the pint’s whereabouts, which could be anywhere within the region.
At this early stage of the competition, Tetley’s is remaining tight-lipped as to where the pint can be found, but the Diary reckons that down t’pit is a good bet.
