Ex-Teletext marketing boss joins Co-operative travel agent group

Teletext’s former marketing director, Marc Bell, is leaving the company to join United Co-op Travel Group (UCTG) as one of two general managers for distribution. His appointment is part of a restructure at the travel company.

Bell, now the managing director of Teletext’s Web division, will join UCTG in the next couple of weeks. Teletext is recruiting a direct replacement for him.

His appointment comes as UCTG is reorganising its senior management structure. It has promoted Alistair Rowland, head of the retail, Apollo call centre and Barrow Travel operations, to the other general manager for distribution role.

Bell will oversee the Co-op Travel retail network, Apollo, the cruise specialist centre, Barrow and UCTG’s new media division, which is expected to grow significantly over the next few years. Rowland will be responsible for Future Travel, independent consortium The Freedom Travel Group and the group’s business travel interests. Rowland and Bell will report to UCTG group general manager Mike Greenacre.

Future Travel managing director David Elstob plans to step down next January and Rowland has been promoted in order to ensure a smooth changeover. Elstob will become a board director of Future and the Freedom Group.
