Sinn Fein makeover is in the can

As Northern Ireland looks forward to what will hopefully be a more peaceful future, the Diary can’t help but wonder what will become of the likes of Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness.

While it is largely expected that the Sinn Fein politicians will continue with their political ambitions, the Diary can reveal that the pair may have taken a surprising career turn: into the world of “fresh fruit, vegetables and salad, potatoes, tomatoes, malt, all the produce of Ireland, lemons and bananas”.

News of the switch from the offices of Stormont to the organic fields comes from the Patent Office, which shows that the name Sinn Fein, along with Fianna Fail and Fine Gael, have been trademarked for the above use to an office in Cromwell Place, South Kensington. The Diary has checked, and as yet the name “Gerry and Marty’s Country Jam” has yet to appear on the list of patents. But it can surely only be a matter of time.
