Ex-C&W boss joins BT in major UK customers role

Former Cable & Wireless marketing chief Mark Quartermaine has joined BT in the new role of vice-president for commercial and brand for its UK major customers division.

Former Cable & Wireless marketing chief Mark Quartermaine has joined BT in the new role of vice-president for commercial and brand for its UK major customers division.

Quartermaine, who started this week, reports to president of UK major customers Gary Bullard. He will be responsible for all major accounts except government and financial services.

Quartermaine was managing director for marketing services at Cable & Wireless, but left earlier this year along with group marketing director Laurence Huntley (MW March 17).

Their departures were part of a major reshuffle overseen by chief executive Francesco Caio, who took a tighter grip on UK operations at the start of the year.

Quartermaine’s appointment is the latest in a string of high-profile moves at BT. Last month brand and sponsorship director Simon Ingman left the company after 15 years (MW September 1).

Head of communications planning and media Grant Millar has joined Vizeum as managing director, and chief broadband officer Alison Ritchie left after her role was scrapped (MW August 18).

At the end of last month BT appointed former Woolworths and T-Mobile marketer Tracey Follows as head of consumer marketing following a department restructure (MW last week). She reports to head of marketing communications Rebecca Morgan.
