NBC Universal digital television station The Sci Fi Channel is launching its biggest marketing drive of the year to promote its “Movie at 10” strand.
The month-long, six-figure campaign, which coincides with the channel’s tenth birthday, goes live from October 10, with outdoor advertising across London. It will be supported by print, radio and guerrilla marketing, and the channel will air idents from the same date.
The campaign has been produced by Quiet Storm with media planning by Rocket PHD. Six executions have been created, all under the strapline “Never disturb anyone watching the Movie at 10”. Spoofs of classic scenes from sci-fi movies, such as the ET finger jab and Wonder Woman’s “spin-slap”, are used in the ads.
The Sci Fi Channel will also be advertising in Metro and conducting promotions on London-based station Xfm in the run-up to its anniversary in early November.
Quiet Storm was appointed to the account last year following a creative pitch. This followed a &£2m repositioning of the channel in April 2004 to a more mainstream offering. The channel added fantasy and paranormal programmes to its mix of traditional sci-fi movies and TV shows.
