Victor Chandler chief quits to join Cypriot gambling firm

Former Victor Chandler group marketing director Alan Randall has left the Gibraltar-based gaming company to take up a role as managing director of Cypriot gambling firm Casiopea.

Casiopea runs several internet casinos, including BeTheDealer.com, a product where players can choose to act as the house – therefore enjoying more favourable odds, but taking on responsibility for the other players.

Casiopea operates Fireball Casino and several sites aimed at gamblers in Asia. It has also developed the first casino product engineered for use on mobile phones in Japan.

Randall, who has experience of the Asian markets, has been signed up to develop the Casiopea brand in the UK and Asia.

BeTheDealer.com is the only online or land-based casino where players can act as dealer and benefit from the favourable odds that the house enjoys. However, the flipside of the deal is that the dealer must also be able to cover the winnings of all other players at the table, meaning that there is a greater risk.

Meanwhile, Victor Chandler says it is not looking to appoint a direct replacement for Randall. Angela Langford has taken over the running of the department and has been named as the new head of marketing.

Last year Randall oversaw the rebranding of the Victor Chandler group, uniting the group’s products under a new “VC” logo, although the black and white motif was dropped in China, where the colours are considered unlucky (MW October 21, 2004).
