Manning’s bunker bash is a bumper banker for BHF

Mark Twain’s famous adage that golf is “a good walk spoiled” rings true with the Diary, which can only assume that Twain, too, knew how it feels to take nine shots to negotiate the windmill obstacle at Cleethorpes Fun Park.

However, it would appear that not everyone agrees. Take the employees at media agency Manning Gottlieb OMD. They raised &£2,115 for the British Heart Foundation on the agency’s fourth annual golf day, which saw 80 golfers putt away for an afternoon, followed by a charity auction. The amount raised was more than double the previous year’s total.

Shown is managing director Robert Ffitch handing an impressive cheque to British Heart Foundation head of corporate and trust fundraising Douglas Rouse. No doubt the reason they look so miserable is that they know what a pain it is paying in those huge cheques at the bank.
