EasyMobile picks former Orange chief for top job

Former Orange and Virgin Mobile marketer Mike Lewis has been appointed as sales and marketing director at easyMobile. He replaces Sandy Munro (pictured), who left the company last month (MW October 13).

Munro’s departure, and that of chief executive Frank Rasmussen, came amid reports that the mobile virtual network operator is struggling to attract customers in the UK.

Sources say Munro was keen to hold a pitch to find an advertising agency, but a spokeswoman for easyMobile denies that the company is looking for a retained agency. It works with a number of digital agencies on a project basis.

Lewis will report to head of business development Ole Jakob Thorsen, who will also take on the role of chief operating officer and oversee the day-to-day running of the business. The spokeswoman says the company is not actively seeking a chief executive to replace Rasmussen. Thorsen will report to Henrik Scheinemann, who is a director of the easyMobile operation and chief executive of the company in the Netherlands.

Marketing manager Heidi Parbst has been overseeing marketing and will continue to handle some of Munro’s duties. She will report to Lewis.

Munro is a former marketing director of T-Mobile and joined easyMobile in May (MW May 12).
