Earl’s Court or Earls Court?

Earl’s Court or Earls Court? It’s a sub-editor’s worst nightmare. The Tube station goes with the apostrophe, the arena doesn’t. However, thanks to he-hasn’t-been-in-the-Diary-for-a-while Purity chief Rob Gray, for an all-too-brief spell it will be Elves’ Court. Or should that be Elves Court? Oh bugger… The rebranding of the Tube station is a promotion for the Santaland Christmas Theme Park, running at Earls/Earl’s Court from December 3 until Christmas Eve. Purity created the look and feel for the show, from “Santa’s magic bibbons” to Norman the naughty gnome and Holly Berry characters. Purity needed permission from the local council to temporarily rebrand the area. Though how it managed to catch the station at a point when the usual hordes of ticket touts were absent remains a mystery. Maybe it had used Santa’s magic ribbons to keep them tied up.
