New Campaign – World Development Movement

The World Development Movement (WDM) charity has updated one of the UK’s most famous election ads as part of its anti-globalisation campaign.

Campaigners have reworked the iconic 1979 Conservative Party ad, created by Saatchi & Saatchi, into a montage of people from different African countries queuing outside an unemployment office. The original “Labour isn’t working” slogan has been replaced with the strapline “Free Trade isn’t Working”.

The ad, which was created in house at the charity, is part of a viral campaign designed to coincide with the first day of the World Trade Organisation ministerial talks in Hong Kong.

The charity says that it is considering whether to use the reworked ad in a print and poster format to further highlight their cause.
