Job axe falls on Avis marketing chief after management rejig

Avis UK sales and marketing director Penny Stoolman has left the company after her role was scrapped in a management restructure.

It is not known if Stoolman (pictured), who joined the car rental giant two years ago (MW January 22, 2004), has a job to go to. Daniel McCarthy, who moves from the role of business development director to commercial director as part of the restructure, will now oversee marketing.

Avis UK managing director Stuart Gent says: “We are launching a number of new products and services into the corporate sector over the next 18 months. These changes will enable me to ensure we manage these launches successfully.”

Stoolman replaced Matt Andrews, who left Avis in 2003 (MW June 12, 2003), as the company’s marketing chief.

She joined from the position of group strategy and marketing director at Arval PHH, the car rental arm of French bank BNP Paribas.

She began her career with the RAC, where she rose to director of fleet and accident services. She is also a former sales and marketing director of Kwik-Fit.

Last year, Avis appointed Profero to develop its first pan-European digital campaign.

The increased focus on digital activity is the latest step in a wide-ranging recovery programme, which was implemented last year to stem losses.
