ASA deems Diesel ad ‘too sexual’

Diesel has been slammed by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) over an ad in The Sunday Times Style magazine showing a naked man with three pairs of women’s legs around his body. The ASA investigated after receiving 28 complaints.

The ASA agreed that the ad alluded to sexual behaviour and was unsuitable for a widely read supplement.

Weetabix has been criticised by the ASA over a poster ad claiming its Ready Brek product contained “simply oats, finely milled. No added salt or sugar”, when the brand also includes 3% B vitamins, calcium and iron. The ASA ruled the ad misleadingly implies the product contained nothing but oats.

The ASA has rejected complaints from 71 viewers against Land Rover’s Arctic ad, created by Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R, in which a Discovery 3 causes an Inuit to lose control of his dog sled. The ASA says the ad did not denigrate Inuit culture or show behaviour harmful to the environment.

The ASA has also rejected complaints from 64 individuals about a “disturbing” poster campaign for the TV series Bones, currently showing on Sky.
