Fish4jobs named most popular online recruitment site

Fish4jobs has been named the UK’s most popular online recruitment website for the second year running. Fish4jobs, part of fish4, the UK’s largest online classified site, attracts over 1.6 million job seekers every month, 22% more than a year ago.

Fish4jobs – which is owned jointly by Newsquest Media Group, Northcliffe Newspapers, Trinity Mirror, and Guardian Media Group Regional Newspapers – powers the careers channel on the leading internet portal Yahoo!

It also has a wide range of blue-chip clients including Adecco, Blue Arrow, Manpower, T-Mobile, Virgin, Orange, the Royal Navy and Barclaycard.

The latest figures come from the annual National Online Recruitment Audience Survey (NORAS), which is run by independent online recruitment specialists Enhance Media, and compiled by independent traffic auditors ABC Electronic from a sample of 18,724 people.

According to the 2006 survey results, the average person seeking employment online is 34 years old with 13 years’ work experience, earns around &£34,000 and visits over five sites when actively job-hunting.

The majority, 64%, are looking for a full-time permanent position, with 27% seeking temporary work and 21% searching for a part-time job.

Only 6% still put a hard-copy CV in the post: 79% applied for work electronically, with 43% emailing their CV to an employer and 28% completing an online application form.

Search engines were found to be the main route for people finding a particular recruitment website.
