Ippimail unveils e-mail for charity service
Ippimail, a new free e-mail service that donates 45% of its profits to charity, launches this week (Friday).
By using an Ippimail address, users contribute to their chosen good causes on a daily basis – 45% of income generated from the sale of conventional banner advertising on the ippimail website is donated to charity.
A further 10% is donated to the non-profit corporation that supports the Open Source programming community.
Simon Martin, whose brainchild Ippimail is, says the service offers advertisers a communications route which allows them to benefit from a “halo effect” – the associated feel-good factor of advertising on a site where money is generated for charity.
Ippimail has already signed up a range of charities. These include Save the Children, the Terrence Higgins Trust and Breast Cancer Care, and Ippimail expects further organisations to follow suit.
“Ippi” means a helping hand or “to do one’s bit” in Japanese and a helping hand forms part of the Ippimail logo.
